SIFE The Netherlands
SIFE’s mission is to mobilize university students to create economic opportunities for others. Through community-based projects, SIFE students assist people with lesser chances to improve future perspectives. SIFE provide university students the best opportunity to make a difference and to develop leadership, teamwork and communication skills.
SIFE (Students In Free Enterprise) is a global non-profit organization active in over 40 countries worldwide that mobilizes university students to create economic opportunity for others while discovering their own potential. Working in partnership with business and higher education, SIFE mobilizes students around the world to use knowledge learned in the classroom to address real world issues in their communities. SIFE students form teams on their university and develop outreach projects that teach market economics, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, personal success skills and business ethics. Thereby, these students make a difference and create a better world while realizing the full potential they have as the entrepreneurs and business leaders of tomorrow. Each year, students present their projects at competitions which are held in every SIFE country; the winners go on to a global competition: the SIFE World Cup.
SIFE Career Event 2010
This year, on the 8th of April, SIFE NL organizes the first edition of the SIFE Career Event. During this day 100 SIFE talents and 10 SIFE partners will meet each other on the subject of Corporate Social Responsibility, hosted by KPMG in Diemen, The Netherlands. The SIFE World Cup is an essential platform to share knowledge and best practices from around the world and SIFE The Netherlands encourages all SIFE teams to take into account the Lessons learned at the SIFE World Cup 2009 and to add lessons through sending an email to M. Schaftenaar.

One2Green, co-founded by SIFE student Orfeo Hoeve, facilitated SIFE The Netherlands in compensating for the carbon emission in 2009-2010.

'Jullie kunnen je de interesse die wij hebben misschien wel voorstellen met onze huidige achtduizend openstaande vacatures.' Robert-Jan van de Kraats, cfo van Randstad Nederland, is aan het woord. Hij verwelkomt zo'n tweehonderd zenuwachtige in (mantel)pak gehesen studenten in ‘zijn hoofdkantoor', waar de nationale competitie van SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise) plaatsvindt.
Tien studententeams van evenveel hogescholen en universiteiten moeten een deskundige jury overtuigen dat hun projecten het beste in elkaar zitten. Dat laatste wil zeggen dat de studenten vrij ondernemerschap hebben gestimuleerd onder minderbedeelden in binnen en/of buitenland en zo hun steentje hebben bijgedragen aan een betere maatschappij.
De 22-jarige student economie en rechten Chris Suhartano zet zijn palmtop nog snel even op 'discreet' voordat hij het podium op loopt. Samen met zijn drie teamgenoten van de Universiteit van Amsterdam (UvA) heeft hij drie projecten waar je u tegen zegt. Zo hebben ze een cursus opgesteld voor Amsterdamse tienermoeders waarin hun werd geleerd hun financiële situatie beter op orde to krijgen. Ook zijn ze naar Gambia afgereisd om studenten daar to voorzien van de nodige kwaliteiten om zakelijk succesvol te zijn'...
