Beekeepers project, Bolivia

SIFE Universiteit Leiden

Due to inefficient working many beekeepers in Bolivia live in poverty. The foundation SIFE Leiden has together with local partners set up a programme which offers basic entrepreneurial training and gives much needed material and funds. Income has now risen with more than 300% for 150 families, allowing more children to go to school.

Building tomorrow today, Gambia

SIFE Universiteit van Amsterdam

In The Gambia one of the SIFE Universiteit van Amsterdam teams started a new project focusing on the development of study modules. These modules are setup for the first school of tourism in The Gambia called Building Tomorrow Today. At this moment Building Tomorrow Today counts 23 students. By implementing these modules SIFE UvA is aiming to transfer knowledge that will help these students to develop their entrepreneurial skills.

BURUNDI, Burundi

SIFE Stenden Hogeschool Drenthe

The SIFE team BURUNDI aims to help the albino population in Burundi. Albinos are outcasts in the Burundian society. The SIFE team is not only developing a plan to teach these people economic skills but is also trying to ease everyday life. During the day, Albinos can hardly leave the shade as the skin burns easily. SIFE tries to help funding everything that is necessary to protect the skin from clothing to sunscreen.

Future Entrepreneurs in Rural Romania, Romania

SIFE University College Utrecht

The ‘Future Entrepreneurs in Rural Romania’ project will approach the youth in one village in Transylvania in order to inspire entrepreneurship and increase their skill set. Such communities are conservative and disadvantaged relative to the economic transition the country has gone through. By addressing the youth, they will not only create economic opportunities for themselves, but also influence the rest of the community. The project has the potential to expand to other locations and vary in the topics touched upon.

Language School, Nicaragua

SIFE Rijksuniversiteit Groningen

To create work opportunity for a group of teachers in Nicaragua, and to create benefits for their community, SIFE Groningen helped them to establish their own language school. By giving support and advice (writing a business plan, advising them on steps to take, and creating a website to promote the school), SIFE Groningen helped the teachers to reach their goal.

Payatas project, Philippines

SIFE Universiteit Utrecht

Payatas supports women (and their families) who live on a garbage dump in Manila with a micro credit program. The supported women can set up their own businesses from home and make a better future for their children.

Youth in Action (jongeren in Actie), Senegal

SIFE Universiteit Utrecht

The project is trying to set up a labour and scholar project in Senegal. It’s goal is to give homeless younster a better future and to prevent migration. Currently preparations are made to send one of the team members to Senegal for a study.
